Penwood Estate sits on the east bank of the Leland River at the point where the river meets Lake Leelanau. The estate has three unique cottages available as a package for family reunions or for corporate retreats or individually.
Gray Cottage, the biggest house, with its large outdoor patio-deck is backed by a roomy colorfully decorated screened in porch, and stands as a familiar sentinel to Leland River travelers who move in their boats from the Leland River into Lake Leelanau.
Several yards behind and south of the main house stands Red Cottage, a once-upon-a-time carriage house, transformed into a comfortable 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage boasting a screened in porch that looks out on a gardened yard complete with outdoor seating and a grill.
A stroll up the driveway path takes guests to the backyard of the recently renovated White Cottage with its outdoor furniture and grill.
All the cottages share a gazebo and the shoreline of the river and lake with its firepit and lawn furniture. The property also provides its guests with a huge sand pile where sand-castle-builders of all ages can enjoy excercising their imaginations. With waterfront availability come a boat slip or dock space for your own or a rented boat. A canoe and other water toys are available for the pleasure of guests, also.

Penwood Estate is within walking distance of Lake Michigan beaches, famous Fishtown, a grocery store, several restaurants, and many unique and interesting shops. There are playgrounds, tennis courts, softball and soccer fields in the little town of Leland, as well as a post office and a gas station. There are also two churches in town and golf courses nearby. Some vacationers never sit in the driver's seat of their car for the week of their stay! If a guest brings a motor boat, everyone in the family or group can travel to the grocery store, the library, the historical museum, and restaurants via the water.
